우리들은 석기시대의 뇌를 가지고 있다.

뇌는 우리가 지금도 아프리카의 사바나에서 수렵과 채집을 하고 있다고 생각하고 사바나인 것 처럼 주위환경에 반응하고 있다.

The brain thinks that we are still hunting and collecting in savannas in Africa and is responding to the surrounding environment like savannas.

 

인간은 극도로 사회적인 생물이며 서로 의지하고 의존함으로써 살아남았다.

Humans are extremely social creatures and survived by relying on and relying on each other.

그런 까닭에 옛날부터 계속 사회 집단속에서 살아왔다.

For this reason, I have lived in a social group since ancient times. 

이처럼 집단 내의 다른사람에게 많이 의존한 탓에 '따돌림'을 당하는 일은 인간의 진화라는 역사를 통틀어 항상 괴로운 일이었다.

Being "bullied" because of relying heavily on others in the group has always been a pain throughout the history of human evolution.

그 집단에 있을 수 있느냐 없느냐에 따라 생존 그 자체가 크게 좌우되기 때문이었다.

This is because survival itself greatly depends on whether it can be in the group or not.

그 때문에 인간이 집단에 소속되기를 원하고 따돌림을 두려워하는 심리적경향을 발달시켜 왔다고 해도 놀라운 일이 아니다.

For that reason, it is not surprising that humans have developed a psychological tendency to want to belong to a group and to fear bullying.

따돌림을 당했을 때 반응하는 뇌의 영역은 육체적인 고통을 느꼈을 때 반응하는 영역과 동일하다. 인간은 따돌림을 당하면 육체적인 고통처럼 느낀다.

The area of the brain that reacts to bullying is the same as the area that reacts to physical pain. Humans feel like physical pain when they are bullied.

 

지능연구자들은 모두 지능이란 IQ테스트의 측정 결과 그 자체라고 생각한다.

Intelligence researchers all think that intelligence is the measurement result of the IQ test itself. 

체중이란 체중계의 측정 결과에 지나지 않는 것과 마찬가지인 것이다.

Weight is nothing more than a measurement result of a scale.

 

지능이라는 것은 신장이나 체중과 마찬가지로 실재하는 것이며 그 측정 결과도 체중과 마찬가지로 신뢰 가능한 것이다.

Intelligence, like height or weight, is real, and the measurement results are just as reliable as weight.

세상 사람들의 오해와는 달리 지능은 대부분 유전으로 결정된다.

Contrary to the misunderstandings of the world, intelligence is mostly determined by genetics.

인간이 가진 수많은 형질과 특징 가운데에서도 지능은 가장 유전율이 높다. 

Among the numerous traits and characteristics of humans, intelligence has the highest inheritance rate.

지능의 유전율은 키의 유전율과 거의 동일하다.

The permittivity of intelligence is almost the same as that of height.

 

유감스럽게도 교육을 받아도 지능은 향상되지 않는다.

Unfortunately, intelligence does not improve even with education.

순서가 반대이기 때문이다.

This is because the order is the opposite.

책을 많이 읽고 좋은 학교에 가서 좋은 교육을 받으면 지능이 올라가는 것은 오해이다.

It is a misunderstanding that intelligence increases when you read a lot and go to a good school and get a good education.

실제로는 지능이 높은 사람일수록 자주 책을 읽고, 좋은 학교에 가서 좋은 교육을 받을 수 있다.

In reality, the more intelligent people are, the more often they read books, go to a good school, and get a good education.

 

성인이 된 후 지능이 내려가는 일은 있어도 올라가는 일은 절대 없다. 

Intelligence may go down after adulthood, but it never goes up.

 

지능이 낮은 사람일수록 조상의 환경에는 없었고 진화의 관점에서 볼 때 새로운 존재와 환경을 잘 이해하지 못하며 제대로 대응하지 못한다.

The lower the intelligence, the less intelligent it was in the ancestor's environment, and from the perspective of evolution, it is difficult to understand and respond properly to new beings and environments. 

그러나 조상의 환경에도 있었으며 진화의 관점에서 볼 땐 당연하거나 익숙한 존재와 상황에 대해 잘 이해할 수 있을지 제대로 대응 가능할지는 일반지능과는 관계가 없다.

However, it was also in the ancestor's environment, and from the perspective of evolution, it has nothing to do with general intelligence whether it is possible to understand or respond properly to natural or familiar beings and situations.

 

특정 TV프로그램을 자주 보는 사람은 교우 관계에 대한 만족도가 높다.

마치 실제로 친구가 많이 있고 자주 만나는 듯한 착각을 하기 때문이다.

This is because I feel as if I actually have many friends and meet them often.

다른 사람의 전자 이미지나 영상 따위는 우리 조상들의 환경에 없었기 때문에 인간의 뇌는 그런 이미지가 가공된 것이라고 생각하지 못한다.

Since other people's electronic images or images were not in our ancestors' environment, the human brain does not think such images were processed.

그리하여 우리의 뇌는 그런 이미지나 영상을 진짜 친구라고 착각한다.

Thus, our brains mistake such images or videos as real friends.

 

그러나 지능이 평균 이상인 사람은 TV를 많이 보아도 교우관계에 대한 만족도가 높아지지 않았다.

However, those with intelligence above average did not increase their satisfaction with companionship even if they watched a lot of TV.

그들의 의심하는 마음은 TV를 진심으로 즐기는 것을 방해 하며 영화에서 반복해서 등장하는 인물이 높은 출연료를 받고 고용된 전문가이며 대본에 따라 연기하고 있는 것 뿐이라고 생각한다.

Their suspicious minds hinder them from truly enjoying TV, and I think that the person who appears repeatedly in the movie is an expert who is hired for a high fee and is only acting according to the script.

또한 포르노를 자주 보는 남성일수록 여성이 성적으로 문란하다고 생각하는 경향이 있다.

In addition, men who often watch pornography tend to think that women are sexually promiscuous.

남성의 뇌는 현실의 여성과 포르노 배우를 혼동하며 그 결과, 현실의 여성도 포르노 배우처럼 행동하고 성적으로 문란하며 특이한 성행위를 즐긴다고 착각한다.

The male brain confuses real women with pornographic actors, and as a result, real women act like pornographic actors, misunderstand that they are sexually promiscuous, and enjoy unusual sexual activities.

반면 지능이 평균이거나 평균이상인 남성에겐 나타나지 않았다.
